What is the peculiarity of October 12? Many may not be able to remember the significance of the day, but surely those who work in the health sector will. It is the World Arthritis Day. Such a day has been observed to create awareness of the disease among the general public.

Arthritis is considered one of the most common diseases, which can have far-reaching consequences in the social and professional life of a person. There are about 240 million people around the world, affected by arthritis and the increase in the number of such people have serious effects on the health economy of the respective nations. It is estimated that among the arthritis patients in India, 60 percent are women.

The pain at the joints, inflammation and swellings etc are the symptoms of the disease. Different systems of medicines – including the allopathy and the alternative ones – have come up with treatment for the disease. But the most effective one, according to some of the patients, is nothing but the traditional Indian system of Ayurveda. Many patients from all over the world come to India, especially to Kerala, in search of the effective arthritis ayurvedic treatment.

The practitioners abide by the rules prescribed by Ayurveda acharyas and do not treat the disease alone. They take a holistic view and treat the whole body and mind, removing the poisonous elements in the body and creating an equilibrium within the body and between the body and nature.
